Water, Wildlife, and Wilderness Field Study Visits (Grades 3-5)

Ready to let your students discover the wondrous water, wildlife, and wilderness Polk County has to offer them?

Then register your 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade class for an adventurous, engaging trip to Circle B Bar Reserve!  Students will learn about the natural world while completing different learning activities in an outdoor setting, just like researchers and scientists in a biology field! These programs correlate with the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) for Interdependence, Heredity/Reproduction, and Nature of Science Unit topics and is structured in a STEM, inquiry-based lesson. Once schools head back to their respective classrooms, teachers have the field studies data to probe further into the curriculum by using the students experiences to guide the rest of the instruction.

NEW! Two different Water, Wildlife, and Wilderness program options that align with NGSSS Science for grades 3-5.

Program 1: Seasonal Changes in Florida Plants / Animals and Impacts on the Environment

(NGSSS – Science - SC.3.L.15.1, 15.2, 17.1; SC4.L. 16.2, 16.3, 17.1, 17.4; SC.5.L. 15.1, 15.2; and Math - MAFS.4.MD. 1.1, 1.3; NBT 1.1, 1.2; OA. 1.2; and K12.MP. 1.1-8.1)

Program 2: Life Cycles and the Flow of Energy (Food Chains)

(NGSSS – Science - SC.3.L. 15.1, 15.2,17.2; SC.4.L. 16.4, 17.2, 17.3, 17.4; SC.5.L. 15.1, 15.2; and Math - MAFS.4.MD. 1.1, 1.3; NBT 1.1, 1.2; OA. 1.2; and K12.MP. 1.1-8.1)
